![]() MediaPages™ cares about the environmentMediaPages™ does not cut any corners when it comes to thinking about the environment, regardless of the fact that the production of directories only represents a slight fraction of the total North American waste. The paper used in the production of MediaPages™ directories is composed of recycled fibers and the directories are entirely recyclable. In fact, more than 40% of recycled materials are used in the production of these directories. The rest is composed of wood chips. Thanks to our paper supplier, AbitiBowaters, no trees have been cut down to meet our paper needs since 1996. Furthermore, AbitibiBowater uses production methods that exclude chemical products and whitening agents for making paste. Since 2000, the company has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 10%. MediaPages™ is completely committed to processes that reduce waste by participating in municipal recycling programs and in collaborating with environmental groups in efforts to follow the best environmental practices in all of our activities. MediaPages™ is also very active in educating customers about the 3R’s, Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and the Replenishment of resources. We encourage you to recycle your dated directories though your municipal recycling program. Once recycled, your directories are transformed into newspapers, cereal boxes, egg cartons and other paper products. Some companies will also go as for as turning it into insulation. The environment is always being considered and for this reason, our directory community pages, both for our regional and urban directories contain information on the 3R’s. Our directories also offer headings related to the environment enabling us to give exposure to recycling organizations, free of charge. The customers can now more easily be informed on environmental issues and can learn about the companies dedicated to maintaining our environment. MediaPages™ is a division of Quebecor Media, a company dedicated to sustainable development. Through its various media channels, Quebecor Media informs the population about its ecological responsibilities of today and tomorrow. Just like MediaPages™, many divisions are involved in initiatives for the well being of the environment. In addition, all the books published in black and white by the editors of Quebecor Media’s Groupe Livre Québec, the first group of publishers of French language books in Canada, are printed on recycled paper containing 100% of post-consumption fibers. Thanks to a partnership they have with le Jour de la Terre, Videotron does its part by planting a tree for every customer that accepts to receive their invoice by Internet. In addition, Quebecor Media with le Jour de la Terre initiated a huge campaign across Quebec to recuperate old cellular telephones. The campaign called “Allo Terre” enables Quebecers to recycle their old cellular telephones though responsible methods by dropping them off in boxes dedicated to this effort in the Superclub Videotron or Videotron stores across Quebec.
